The Overheard (2017)

As part of Aarhus 2017 European Capital of Culture The Overheard invited everyone to be attentive to the live environment and become attuned to the distinctions between music, noise and ambient sounds. Curated and developed by us in close collaboration with Aarhus University and a range of collaborators and contributors.

The paper Århus Stiftstidene highlights The Overheard as one out of four projects from the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017, with the words:

"The Overheard Sound Experiments in, among others, Mindeparken and Mønsted Kalkgruber were excellent and high-quality sound art that showed that Aarhus does not need to import to present art of international caliber."

CEO of the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017, Rebecca Matthews, comments on the project:

"The Overheard has been a lighthouse of international caliber throughout 2017 and has fully lived up to the theme of rethinking. Using Region Midtjylland as its sounding playground in a truly surprising and innovative way, the project has broken down barriers between art, music and everyday listening experiences. In addition, the project has created new connections between industry, cultural institutions and artists from home and abroad. "
